Mercedes Benz - What a joke!
OK, so I am English and always wanted to own a Mercedes Benz. I perceived them as the best cars, assumed their dealerships were the best, assumed their customer service was great. What a joke! MERCEDES BENZ if you read this, your company is a joke!
So here is the short version...... It's actually quite long, but as short as I can get it :)
It is time to change my vehicle and I decide to go for the Mercedes now, rather than wait until I can really afford it. I decide to lease because that way my payments will be the same as my previous vehicle. Switching from a large SUV to a car will also save me a lot in gas.
I go to the dealership and test drive a car - the new C300. I tell the salesman that I want that car, but would like the optional navigation system. Not a problem, I am told the car will arrive and be ready for delivery by March 28th. Great so far!
March 28th comes - car never arrived. Dealership promises they have tracked it down at the port and it is now in transit and will arrive next day. Next day - NO CAR!! I get told that it is on it's way! I knew it was on it's way!
Saturday 29th, the dealership asked if I could come in and sign all the forms and date for Monday (This suited me as our work schedule made if difficult during the week). They are truly sorry and want to give me a similar vehicle (but without Navigation) until Monday and then they would switch my car out. I refuse as I would rather wait for my own car.
Monday 31st March, I get a call apologising that they cannot find my car. It's a $42,000 Mercedes and they lost it! However, The offer to use one of theirs still stands. I accept their offer as the cars were same color and all.
Guess what? The car NEVER ARRIVED until Thursday 3rd April! I had to call the dealership 2 hours before they closed asking if it had arrived. The Sales Manager says "Yes it arrived this afternoon and will be ready for you in the morning". Hey! Guess What? NO, NO, NO! I want my car tonight! The dealership agrees and I go in and pick it up.
That evening I am driving down the road still somehow feeling warm and fuzzy. I turn on the headlamps and find they were not the Xenon lamps that the test car had. The next day I call the dealership to be told the Xenons were an upgrade and I was not supposed to have them!! Not feeling too warm and fuzzy right now.
Next day I go to show houses and decide to try out the Nav system. I want to navigate to a street that was built 4 years ago. Guess what! the street is not on the map! I try another one built 5 years ago - not on the map! I am smart enough to know it takes a while for the software companies to catch up with all our new construction, but 4 or 5 years on a brand new model car?? No point in calling the dealership because they are useless, so I call Mercedes Customer Care. I get told that I need to call the company who supply the software to see if there is a later version. I call them, only to be told they only supply Mercedes with the raw data and if Mercedes are not willing to pay top dollar then they will get older information! Are you fricking serious????
After 2500 miles, the car is starting to grow on me. I am unhappy about the 2 stone chips I already have on the paintwork; I am unhappy that when I ran into the dealership to pick up some paperwork my salesrep couldn't even say hi!
Then yesterday I get a stone chip in the windshield! THEN we get our mail and in it is the June bill. It was dated May 13th, arrived in our mailbox May 31st and is due June 1st!!!! Not a major problem, we will go online and pay the bill. All was going great until the Mercedes website decides our account number does not exist!! So does that mean I don't have to pay?
We will be calling them tomorrow to say what we think. I WILL NEVER buy or recommend a Mercedes to ANYONE!
